10 Things You Don't Know About Me

September 03, 2018  •  Leave a Comment

This year I'm embracing everything that makes Whitney Beth Photography unique, and that's me! I want you to come up to me at the grocery store if you see me out. I want you to feel comfortable enough starting up a conversation with someone you've only ever interacted with online. I want you to get to know me. (Hence this post)

1. If I wasn't a photographer or an art teacher, I would be a florist.

2. I lettered in theater during high school was sworn in as a thespian.

(Here's me as Elizabeth Bennet in my high school's production of Pride and Prejudice)

3. I have taken a picture every single day since 2011. I write about each day based on the picture and now have an extensive journal of the past 8 years. It started out as a new years resolution and turned into a habit.

The picture that started it all.

4. My favorite road trip foods are; Reese's Fast Break, dried mangos, Dunford donuts and Salt and Vinegar chips.

5. I went to Europe for 2 weeks after I graduated high school with my uncle. He is a tour guide and I sold my photos of the trip to the attendees and that paid for all the chocolate and souvenirs I brought back form Switzerland.

(Here I am at the Ponte Vecchio in Florence, Italy)

6. When I was in 7th grade my friend, Rachel, and I were playing in our backyard in Oregon. We lived on a whole acre of 50+ year old pine trees. It was really windy and I remember looking up just as I heard a crack and watched as a tree came falling towards me. Rachel pulled me out of the way and we ran inside. When we went back to look at it later, we could see my flip flop footprints on either side of the tree.

7. I don't like tomatoes.

8. I wanted to name my childhood dog, Rose, but instead we named her angel. (I was 4 and vividly remember arguing my point). I also wanted to name my kitten that I got for my 10th birthday, Love-ums. My family and I compromised her and named her, Snuggles.

(here's a macro shot I took of snuggles when I got my very first DSLR - Freshman year of high school)

9. I used to wear dresses with pockets all the time growing up. Mainly so that when my cousin and I caught garter snakes I could put them in my pocket to keep them safe.

10. At UVU I signed up to take "Meteorology" - thinking it was about meteors. I wasn't. It's about the weather. I still needed that science credit so I stayed in the class. It ended up being super beneficial for predicting the weather for my photoshoots.
