The Jones Family Pictures | Salt Lake City Family + Senior Photographer

It's that time of year when I drag my family out to some place I've been eyeing for our family pictures. This year was a pretty big year for us, on top of adding Fields to the mix, we also were lucky enough to gain a few in laws! Mitch and Olivia joined our family a few months ago and we love them! As soon as Robert and Olivia's wedding date was set and the receptions were scheduled I picked a date for our family pictures. As the months got closer I continually sent out reminders. Soon we were weeks before our photoshoot. The nice part about having two brothers married is I don't have to worry about helping them pick out outfits! They're my sisters in law's problem now! I knew I wanted the salt flats and sent out a mood board/color swatch of the colors we needed to wear. I opted for more neutrals, blues and soft creams and pinks to match the landscape. My family knows by now that this is just what it is and only slightly complained at the two hour drive out to the flats. For most of them, if not all, it was their first time there!

We made better time than I thought and arrived about an hour before sunset, normally this is what I strive for, but with the landscape being so flat the sun was a bit bright. We started shooting anyways and made it work! (Mainly to combat the grumps! ha!) Just like I do with all of my own extended family shoots, I set up my tripod and rigged up my remote. Every shot that I'm in (with the exception of my little family) was taken via tripod, remote control and a whole 'lotta empty threats directed at my siblings. haha! We were able to get some great shots in! A true testament of my family's love for me was when I made them stop walking back to the car after I told them we were done to do a quick run through of everyone in the softer light. I love this growing family of mine and can't wait until next month when this photo will already be outdated with the birth of my niece! (and for those wondering, the stick head is my sister - she's on an LDS mission in Kentucky right now)
