Salt Lake Temple Baptism Pictures | Whitney Beth Photography

Back in December I was able to photograph E for his baptism pictures. His mom asked him which temple he wanted them done at and he chose the Salt Lake Temple! As of the 29th of December, the Salt Lake City temple is closed for renovations for the next FOUR years! E is one of the handful of people who got to have their pictures taken there before it closes. How cool is that!? E was such a trooper and braved the cold in his super cool, new, church clothes. I've photographed E in the past and he is not very fond of having his picture taken, but he went ahead and surprised us all (especially his mom!) and cooperated so nicely! We were able to walk around the grounds and photograph all over the place. I knew his parents had a jumping picture in front of the temple, so I thought that would be a fun memento to recreate. One of the things that comes along shooting at the Salt Lake Temple is the influx of tourists. I have friends who have had to deal with tour buses full of people who have tried to photograph their bride over their shoulders. Up until this point, I had never had to deal with that problem. While we were photographing on the steps, this man came over and asked if he could take a selfie with Eli. He looked like he wasn't from here and was probably fascinated with his red hair. I told him no, (duh) but he asked again and tried to make it seem like it was a silly selfie and would only take two seconds. I put an end to that when I told him "no" again, explaining E was my client and that he didn't have permission to. Before I could give him a chance to ask again, I had E walk away with me away to a different part of the grounds. My mama bear was fully prepped to come out, but luckily he left us alone after that. We were able to finish off by the big, old trees and use up the last bit of light. I had so much fun with some one one one time with E! He was a champ for his pictures and even earned some waffle love from his mom for dinner for being so good! It was really hard to narrow down my favorites, but here they are!
