Kuwahara Pumpkin Patch Family Outing | Whitney Beth Photography

We are now entering one of my favorite holiday seasons! (Let’s be honest, they’re all my favorite, but Halloween is like the gateway drug to all the holiday festivities!) I love Halloween and all things fall. Although this year I was a bit reluctant to let summer go. To come to terms with the changing seasons I thought it was the perfect excuse to go to our favorite pumpkin patch! We’ve been going to Kuwahara since before Jones was born, making this our 6th year in attendance. I just love it! Each year they’ve added more and more fun attractions as well. We usually just do the pumpkin patch since my kids literally spend a good hour running from tent to tent trying to decide which pumpkin to pick. What first drew me in to Kuwahara was their greenhouses! At the time I first heard about them, greenhouses full of pumpkins wasn‘t really a “thing” but my photographer heart was SO happy! I like going in the middle of a weekday when we have the place relatively to ourselves. But middle of the day means not ideal lighting conditions. However, you throw a bunch of pumpkins in a greenhouse and start snapping away at noon and you are going to have beautifully, even lit photos. The greenhouses act as a giant diffuser! So we’re able to not have to compromise on crowds or beautiful light.

We had a great time for a quick family outing. Fields was so happy we were at the pumpkin patch! He picked up a misplaced, white pumpkin the second we entered the patch and held onto it the whole trip. Jones on the other hand wanted the biggest pumpkin he could find (and that we would let him get lol) Remmy was less than thrilled at my “shove the baby in the pumpkins for a picture” tradition. But to be fair he is also the youngest one we’ve ever taken to the pumpkin patch. In between debating over which pumpkin to get we were able to snap a few family pictures together thanks to my tripod. (No shame in my family picture game) if you haven’t planned a pumpkin patch trip yet you should check out Kuwahara!
