We've officially made it a month and a half with our newest addition to the family. Remington is the cutest and we absolutely love having him in our family. That being said, we've all had to learn to adjust with another person living with us. (And a newborn at that!)
Mom: I've added another person to care for - and I love it! Just not the lack of sleep. Luckily Remmy is a better sleeper than his brothers were at this age and will actually let me put him down to sleep. I usually get at least one stretch of sleep with him in the bassinet next to our bed before he comes in with us. The swing and baby nest have been a lifesaver for showering and getting stuff done. My goal everyday is to have everyone dressed, ready and rooms cleaned by 11. So far we've hit that goal more often than naught - which is so great since it really sets the tone for the day. I've had to learn how to work around a nap schedule again - and when that doesn't work, I've become pro at using the bouncer and nursing at my desk. My house isn't as clean as I would like it, but I'm learning to cut myself some slack.
Dad: Danny is doing great and has been so good with the extra helping and tending to the other boys while I nurse baby. He is still convinced that all our kids only want me because I have the food (lol) but Remmy and him are great nap buddies! We loved having Danny home for 2 weeks during his paternity leave! Despite our late nights and midnight wake up calls from a crying/hungry baby he is still the best Dad and so great at tending to our needs.
Jones: Jones has been the best big helper and is a major perk to continuing to have kids. He loves to hold Remmy and tries to "parent" Fields when he's not being careful around baby brother. It's still an adjustment and I can tell he's dealing with big emotions - especially when he starts to tear up and not know why. We just make sure he gets lots of cuddles and attention. Not only has Jones been so great with Rem, but also Fields. Having a new baby brother helped Jones realize how much fun playing with Fields can be. There's still plenty of fighting, but for the most part, those two cute bros are always playing.
Fields: He is the first one to correct you if you call Remmy anything other than "Remmy" or "Remington." Not even "cutie," "chubby," "bubba," or any other pet names. He loves to try and hold Rem and is very good at sharing his sticker collection, (came out of the shower one day to little man covered in stickers) and trying to force the pacifier into Remington's mouth. But more than anything, Fields just wants to help. When we first brought Remington home, we were all hanging out in the family room and Remmy pooped. I told Danny I was going to give it a second before I changed him in case there was more. During our conversation Fields slipped away and came back a minute later holding a diaper and wipes for Remmy! He is such a thoughtful big brother.
All in all we're all doing great and just happy Remington is finally here! I love watching my boys' relationships grow and I can't wait to see (and laugh about at a later time) the trouble they are going to get into!
