This is me. I want to be your friend. I want you to recognize me out in places and feel comfortable enough to stop me and say "Hi." I spend so much of my career behind cameras and computers that it's important to me that we have a connection somehow. I have a very large family and I married into an even larger family.
My side:
Danny's side:
Family plays a huge part in why I do what I do. I love looking back at family pictures and sparking memories, laughing at bad hair cuts and just remembering where we've came from. I treasure my family pictures so much and I want you to be able to do the same. To have something to pass down and show grandkids.
I love spending time outside with my family. Something about being in the beauty of nature and having fresh air and open skies just makes my Oregonian heart so happy! I love being able to teach a love for outdoor activities for my kids. (And despite being nearly 6 months pregnant, we can still hike and enjoy our time outside together.)
I am currently 23 weeks pregnant with my fourth babe. (I take "bump" pictures every four weeks.) Jones is my oldest at 2 1/2 years old, then I miscarried Peyton and Banks was born sleeping at 26 weeks. This new little peanut has brought us so much joy and I am anxious for May to arrive so that he can get here safely!
I've also got the two cutest, most stubborn, stinky dogs ever. I love these pups and tell them daily it's a good thing they are cute because they get into SO. MUCH. TROUBLE. Indy (left) is a Bernese Lab mix, while Scout, (right) is an Aussie Lab mix. You'd think they came from the same litter they look and act so similar! If it wasn't for these two I'd have the cleanest house ever!
And since story telling is just another name for what I do as a Utah family and senior photographer, I thought I'd tell you some stories I have from growing up. I like to think of this as "Speed Dating Your Photographer." Tons of stories in a short amount of time - all so you guys can get to know me better! Enjoy!
- When I was 17 I stumbled upon my dad's power washer that he was using to remove the moss in between the cement slabs unattended. I power washed, "Whitney is awesome" into our driveway thinking he was doing the whole thing. He wasn't. It stayed there for months.
- My siblings and I would build forts all over our property. Every fort had a "fire place" - complete with river rock circle. We never actually lit fires, it was all for show. One day we decided that we really wanted to have a fire! So we cleared all the pine needles away until it was just dirt ground. We stacked our wood and got our kindling all ready. We were just missing matches! So my siblings and I convince Austin (2nd oldest) to go into the house and smuggle out some matches. He did it - and all without mom seeing! But while he was inside doing our dirty work we decided that a fire was a bad idea. He came out looking triumphant and we all told him to go put them back and that it was a dumb idea! haha!
- Speaking of forts, one fort in particular was in a grove of filbert trees. (Which is what us Oregonians call Hazelnuts.) With the way the grove was situated we were able to section off "rooms' with the branches. One of the rooms we dubbed "the bathroom" because it was harder to get to and we watched our dog pee in it. One day we had our cousins over and we were playing in our fort. My cousin had to use the bathroom, but instead of walking the the 20 yards back to the house, he decides to use the fort's bathroom. We couldn't believe he was actually using it, and that he was POOPING IN OUR FORT. We never played in that fort again.
- Snow in Oregon is a big deal. If it sticks to the ground school is canceled. Even if it's only an inch deep. We would have a handful of snow days a year. One year it snowed for 13 days straight and no one was able to go anywhere. The roads were iced and everything was closed. We lost power for a few days and had to rely on melting and boiling snow on our gas stove for water.
- For my 10th birthday my parents got me a kitten as well as a second "family kitten." They were gray tabby sisters. The family cat looked like a raccoon so we named her Meeko, from Pokahontas. My kitten was the runt and I desperately wanted to name her, "Love-ums." Shockingly my dad shot that one down real quick. My mom helped me compromise and we named her Snuggles, instead.
