Extended family gatherings where EVERYONE is there is a special occasion - especially when it is your family! Danny is the youngest of eight. Being the youngest in such an established family where everyone is all over the place makes it tough to see everyone. We are lucky that this past year Danny's sister and her family moved back to Utah after being stationed everywhere in the military for 20 years. That brought the Utah Robbins back to 7 out of 8 kids. 3 of the Robbins kids and their families live in the valley, 1 in Spanish Fork, 1 in Manti, 1 in St. George and 1 clear out in Florida. When news got around that ALL eight siblings AND their spouses would be in one place at one time I knew I had to plan family pictures. (We did family pictures last summer, but we were missing a brother in law and a handful of grandkids - which I ended up photoshopping in. It was so much work! This time we were only missing two missionaries, a grandson, his fiance and their baby - the first great grandkid!) This may not seem like a big deal to most people, but this was the first time EVER that all kids and their spouses were together. The last time that happened half of us weren't even in the family yet!
Trying to coordinate schedules with that many people is tough, so the only option was to do pictures before our family Christmas party. This also prompted me to book the Loft Studio in Lehi since it was "on the way" for a good chunk of the family and there was NO WAY I was taking pictures of that many little kids out in December temperatures. (And yes, I took these. My tripod and remote control were my saving grace!) The studio was perfect! Big enough to have space for everyone, but small enough to still keep everyone in a confined space - mainly all the toddlers! Luckily I had been planning placements of where I wanted everyone to stand for a few days before the shoot and I had given color schemes and outfit ideas week before. Even with all the craziness of having that many people, we were able to crank everything out in 45 minutes - including individuals of some of the kids who needed updated pictures for Grandma's wall. I love this crazy family that I've married into! I've gotten to be fully inducted into being an aunt - with my oldest nephew barely two years younger than me! Not to mention I've got the best in laws around! My one regret with being the oldest in my family was not having older brothers, now I have 7! I love my sisters in law and how close we've grown. I'm so happy that I could provide this service to my family and that these pictures will hang on the wall for years to come.
