Kristina and I planned this session literally months ago. Audrey returned home from her LDS mission in California and turned right around to head off to school at BYU-Idaho. With kids growing up and having their own schedules to manage, Robby and Kristina knew that getting family pictures this year was going to have to take place months in the future. Fast forward to September, Audrey was on break from school, summer vacation craziness had ended and all the kids were going to be in one place at one time. For as long as we had the date reserved, the actual photoshoot itself was planned in a whirlwind over texts and Sunday dinners. (This is my brother in law and his family, btw.) Since they're family, I was able to try out a new to me location I heard about up American Fork Canyon. It has a beautiful view of Timp and was a perfect choice for their outfit color scheme! Lucky for these guys, they live so close to the mouth of the canyon that Robby commented on how it took longer driving to the spot than it did for them to meet me at the toll booth! Our shoot was so fun and casual (the plus side of knowing your photographer really well.) Ember, the youngest did so well! Mainly because she decided she was a kitty during the shoot! I quickly found out that I could get her to pose anyway I wanted by talking to her like a kitty and meowing behind the lens! She did so good! At one point during the shoot I see Robby and Ember crouching down among the bushes. Thinking they're having a cute father/daughter moment I snap a few pictures. Only to be met with looks of confusion from the other kids. Turns out, little kitty Ember had to pee! Robby was just doing the dad thing and helping her squat in a bush for a little privacy. Ha! Needless to say, those pictures did not turn out like I had hoped! I loved this photoshoot so much! It was so great to be able to capture the love these guys have for each other!
