Headshots are so much fun for me - they are basically mini senior portrait sessions! I was so thrilled when Sami reached out to me and asked if I could photograph her for some headshots she needed for an upcoming play audition. Talking with her about her audition made me think back to my thespian days in high school. As fun as that was for me, I'm glad to be done with that chapter of my life, but I LOVE seeing people pursuing their dreams - especially something creative. Sami and I decided that since it was still kinda "bleh" outside thanks to the winter/spring limbo we were in a few weeks ago, that it would be best to go down to Victor's Pond and golden hour. I was hoping that we'd time it right with the sunset reflecting off the water and we did! Mix that in with the yellow reeds and it was beautiful. Prior to our shoot I had sent Sami my "What to Wear" guide and was so happy to see her arrive in her blue top! Not only was it a perfect shade of blue, but combined with her dark hair it made her eyes POP! I was dying the whole time! Especially since I'm such a big color theory nut (thank you art degree) and the blue mixed with the golden tones of our location were screaming "complementary colors!" It was almost too much for my little artist heart. As we walked around and shot it was so fun getting to know Sami better and having her laugh at my terrible jokes. (Even if it was a pity laugh, I'll take it! ha!) We were able to get SO many good shots in the short amount of time we worked together. I had a tough time narrowing down my favorites! I'll let you decide which one you like best. Any guesses on the photo that Sami had printed as an 8x10?
