Jones' 4th Birthday [Social Distance Style] | Whitney Beth Photography | UT Family Photographer

Jones' birthday didn't quite go as planned thanks to Covid-19. If you're new around here, I live for planning and decorating birthday parties. My mom always went all out for my siblings and I and I want to continue on that tradition. Jones has been wanting a super hero birthday for awhile now. In fact, I knew this around December when I started saving all of my big Amazon boxes. I had planned to have a "super hero training course" with all of his little friends. Complete with avoiding the lasers in the hallway, target practice and of course, hulk smashing a wall. (Hence the boxes) Thanks to this pandemic, his friend party would have to wait. But I still wanted to make his birthday fun, special and full of superheros - even if it was just us. Luckily I had been stocking up on super hero supplies whenever I saw them on the cheap, so I already had all the decor. I had intended on using fondant for the details on his cake, but since it was just us, construction paper it was! (And can we talk about how much easier that was?!) I cut out the buildings and painted little windows all over it with acrylic paint and used markers and card stock for the "pow" signs. Our friend and across the street neighbor also shares a birthday with Jones. Kara asked if I wanted in on the birthday parade she was surprising Justin with. It was perfect! I made up a quick graphic that we could send out to our neighbors. Thanks to Kara's genius idea of a parade, Jones now had an audience to practice his "Hulk Smash" moves in front of. (It also helped keep him busy in-between cars.) When someone would enter the cul de sac, we'd set the boxes up and Jones would Hulk smash the "wall" once they were in front of our house. I also had bubbles and decorations outside to keep the party going. It was so wonderful to see friends and family during our drive by birthday parade. Earlier that week I had asked if people would send Jones a birthday card - which they did. It was incredibly heart warming to see the outpouring of love for my Mr. Jones. He is so loved.
