When Photographer's Stay Home | a Compilation of Work | Whitney Beth Photography

I have such a love for documenting history and telling personal stories that I wanted to create something that was more than just me during this time where everyone is staying home. I have gone through all the motions of cleaning, organizing, DIY, redecorating, propagating plants, you name it. But throughout it all, photography has been my steady constant. I still take a picture everyday, but with our days looking a little less exciting my photos were evolving. I wondered what my photo friends were up to, so I sent out a bunch of emails to friends in the industry and asked them to send in one photo and a little blurb about how life has or hasn't changed for them.

For me, it looks a lot like days outside, in the flower garden and more time with the boys to do whatever. Some days are hard with the lack of structure, and some days are glorious, happy accidents without structure. Danny still works and is business as usual for him, which makes our days long. This leads to thinking of new ways we can entertain ourselves and it has allowed Jones' imagination to thrive. I've taught the boys about plants and how to care for them, and in the same day they've accidentally shot a hole through one of my houseplant's leaves. It's a seesaw of ups and downs, but we are learning how to slow down and enjoy the things that we can control.

"Honestly, I don’t feel like my life has changed too much, between homeschooling and the stay at home mom life a lot is the same. But I have enjoyed the way life has slowed down and how for a bit we had a lot more time with dad."

"I set my camera up on its tripod in our living room for about 48 hours and remotely clicked the shutter at random times throughout the day. The living room is the hub of activity with our toddler and newborn, who was born just two weeks before the stay at home orders began! The images from the 48 hours on the tripod show the most mundane glimpses into our lives lately - diaper changes, vacuuming, video chatting with family, soothing tears, prepping dinner, and changing more diapers. Oddly enough, it doesn't feel like life has changed that much for me personally - I was going to be at home with a toddler and newborn either way! Regardless, it's a unique time of life that ought to be captured. I particularly love this shot from those 48 hours because it feels a bit calmer and more collected than some of the others (hah!) with a freshly bathed toddler about to be put to bed. A happy time for all."

"I feel like this experience, it's going to mark time for us--before or after quarantine--and I know that for me, these will be some of the best 'good old days' that we have. Sure, it's been a challenge. But having permission to step back from everything except my family has been the greatest blessing I could have asked for."

"Life is a little bit different around here! My first grader is home from school, and I've added teacher to my list of titles! My husband is working from home set up in our kitchen, and I'm working in my office/baby's nursery any chance I can sneak away. This cute little face is often staring back at me while I work, and I have to say, it's a pretty good view!"
