Mantua Poppy Family Pictures | Robbins | Whitney Beth Photography

Now that I'm all caught up with client work I thought it was about time to show you all my favorites from my own family pictures this year. It was a total team effort and a testament of my family's love for me. Ha! About a few weeks before this we had just had our big extended family pictures taken on the Jones side, so I already had the deck stacked against me. The real kicker was that I wanted pictures in the poppies at Mantua - up at the box elder campground. (Aka about an hour and a half away!) and if that wasn't enough to send you running, I wanted sunrise so that I didn't have to deal with crowds and photoshopping! So we left our house at 5:30 am. Yikes. Also, huuuuge shoutout to my little sis, Makayla, she agreed to come be my human tripod for me. She's the real MVP since doing pictures myself with the boys is difficult to get them looking at the camera with nothing exciting happening behind it.

I had never been to the Mantua poppies before, so when we turned the corner and my view was flooded with bright, red blooms I felt like it was Christmas and I was sneaking downstairs to see what Santa had left me! It was GORGEOUS! And even more impressive, EMPTY! We got there about 6:30 and the only souls up and around were a pair of nature photographers admiring and capturing the blooms. Other than that we had the whole place to ourselves! It was glorious. We probably shot for around 30-45 minutes. I was so happy to sneak a few peaks at my screen and see the magic that was happening. I only wish it wasn't so far away so that I could photograph clients here on the regular! The boys were so good (Danny included, haha!) and everyone had so much fun! I had been hyping it up for the past week that we were going to visit the magical poppy field to Jones. That was all he needed, his cute little imagination took hold and started producing backstories and characters. In between shots he would "fight off the bad guys." It was so cute! Now I just need to narrow down these even more so I can figure out what ones to print!

Hi Whitney, I’ve been following your photographic talents on Instagram for some time! I didn’t realize until now that you lived in the Eastridge 4th Ward!:) And now you’re a bishop’s wife! Congratulations to your family! I was the bishop of the 5th Ward before Bishop Ireland but I also share a strong interest in photography (especially wildlife and landscape photography)! You can see my pics at #jgordonswensenphotography.
Keep up the great work!
