This fall has been a weird and stressful one for all of us in the photo world. Luckily I’ve been able to sneak by without having to reschedule any of my shoots - but other friends haven’t been so lucky. With having my boys at home with me, I wanted to make sure they experienced fall and saw all the colors instead of me just running off to work. One day I randomly decided that we’d go on an adventure to find the golden leaves. In an effort to get my kids to love the outdoors and hiking and exploring as much as I do, I often spin little tales of fairies or in this case; golden leaves to get them excited. Luckily for me, it’s worked out splendidly and I have yet to hear any griping about going on hikes. I knew that the trailhead to Gloria Falls was full of aspen - I had just shot a family session there a few weeks prior. I also knew that the forrest floor was covered in ferns that change color as well. We invited a friend and her son to join us and we set off for the canyon. I had us leaving at 3 to (hopefully) find a “quiet” time between the hikers leaving and the photographers arriving. We lucked out and both found parking spots in the actual lot - which is an accomplishment during fall in the canyons! We explored trails, found golden leaves, and threw rocks in the stream. It was a perfect fall outing and we got to experience the fall colors at their peak before the snow came. I took a few snapshots of our time, but it was mostly spent playing with the boys and exploring. Here’s your reminder to get out and explore your backyard!
