Halloween 2018

Drum roll please! Our 2018 Halloween Costumes! On my Instagram Stories I gave a hint that our costumes were super nerdy, but not my favorite nerd thing. I loved seeing all the guesses! (And it gave me some good ideas for next year.) But no one even came close! Honestly, I'd be surprised if they did! Pokemon is not my favorite thing in the world. I liked it when I was younger and it had just come out, but not to the extent of ever thinking it would be a good Halloween costume! Then I had kids. ha. I'm sure Jones has had a little help in loving Pokemon in his short life from dad, but whenever I'd throw out possible options for our costumes, Jones (and Danny) would start chanting, "Pika! Pika! Pikachuuuu!" If you read Monday's blog post about all our past Halloween costumes, you'll see that it is pretty heavily dominated in my likes and interest. 3 different years are Star Wars for crying out loud! So I decided it was high time I let the boys pick.

I found Jones' Pikachu costume on Amazon. It's actually a onesie for sleeping, but that makes it extra soft and warm. Which is perfect for Utah Halloweens! I found Indy and Scout's costumes on Amazon as well. My poor dogs for the past few years have had to squeeze into the XL pet size I find at Target or wherever. This year I actually planned ahead and measured them. Scout wore a 5XL Eevie costume and Indy fit perfectly into a 7XL Squirtle. Magically, they didn't try to bite them off! I found all the pieces of mine at the DI with the exception of Togepi (Amazon.) I'm pretty proud of Danny's Ash. I found the perfect shade of blue button up, front pocket-less, shirt at the DI. I also grabbed a white polo shirt. and dissected the two to sew together Ash's shirt/jacket/thing. Then I got a plain trucker hat and colored the symbol onto duct tape and stuck it on. I finished off the look by cutting the tips off of a pair of gloves and clipping on a toy poke ball to Danny's belt. Not too shabby. I had my sister come and be a human tripod for us while we took some pictures out at the wetlands park by our house. I'm pretty pleased with how everything turned out! It just makes me even more excited for next year when I'll have another little babe to dress up!
