My Review of Truly Photography's Marketing Workshop | Whitney Beth Photography

Investing in my education as a photographer and business woman is one of the things that I will always be building on. After graduating with an art degree at UVU and then finding myself thrown out into the real world with out classes to take or a schedule to work around, I realized just how much I valued learning and seeing the growth of my art and myself. Since graduating in '15 I have invested in my business yearly. This year, back in January, I attended Kayla, with Truly Photography's Marketing Workshop.

I knew I wanted to dive into marketing this year, because, lets face it, you can be the most talented photographer in the world, but that doesn't matter if no one knows about you.

And marketing is not my strong suite. So I signed up.

First off, Kayla is the sweetest human you will ever meet. We chatted back and forth before I officially pulled the trigger - my main concern was Fields. He was only 8 months old and still nursing and the workshop was an all day thing. She told me to bring him and even offered up dock a tots, toys and anything else I could need for my little squish.

It was a workshop filled with not only photographers, but other creatives and small business owners - it reminded me so much of school and I loved it! So many different point of views to feed off of and help each other.

One of the big selling points for me signing up for this workshop was Pinterest. Marketing on Pinterest was all new territory for me and prior to this class I felt like I was just blinding pinning stuff and hoping for the best. When I walked into class that day, my Pinterest board was averaging 18K views a month. Now, I'm over 100K and watching the numbers climb weekly. (Speaking of which, you can follow my Pinterest account if you're into that)

Kayla helped me not only develop a marketing strategy for Pinterest, but also explained they why behind it - which was huge and totally blew my mind. She also is a google/SEO genius and showed so many simple things to do in addition to what I was already doing. To give you an idea of the impact it had, in December I was only like 7 views away from hitting 1,000 views to my website. Then I attended the workshop mid January - passed 1,000 and by February (the shortest month of the year, I might add) I crossed into March having 3,960 views to my site!

The entire workshop was packed full of information and I have pages of notes to prove it. I loved having it be in a smaller setting where we could openly talk and discus ideas and help each other out. Kayla is incredibly knowledgable and did such a great job at making us all feel heard and answering questions specific to our business. I walked out of that workshop feeling inspired and with so many new friends to follow and cheer on in our business endeavors.

Thanks to Covid-19, her next marketing workshop isn't going to be until June, but it will be 100% worth the wait. Kayla posts info about it on her Instagram, and I'll happily update the post with the date once it's known.

Kayla, Fields and I at the end of the day.
